Common Questions
VU's unique degree takes 4.5 years to complete and is the only course in Victoria that allows you to become an osteopath accredited with the Australasian Osteopathic Accreditation Council (AOAC) in just 4.5 years and at a masters level.
You'll get extensive hands-on experience treating real patients in VU's Osteopathy Clinic at the state-of-the-art City Tower at the City Campus, as well as in a range of community-based clinics. Working on a rotational basis both during and in-between semesters, you'll gain real-world experience working with paying clients under the supervision of expert accredited osteopaths. Treatments you may assist with include soft tissue techniques, joint manipulation, joint mobilisation, exercise rehabilitation, and general health care advice.
The minimum ATAR (selection rank including adjustment factors) is 65.30, based on the lowest selection rank that received an offer for the Semester 1, 2026 intake. The median selection rank was 79.05 and the highest was 99.25. Applicants also need a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English, plus a study score of at least 20 in one of Biology, Chemistry, any Mathematics or Physics.
With this dual qualification in osteopathy, you'll have the qualifications needed for registration as an osteopath with the Osteopathy Board of Australia and membership with Osteopathy Australia. You'll be able to register and practise as an osteopath in all Australian states and in New Zealand. The course is accredited with the Australian Osteopathic Accreditation Council (AOAC).
This course is offered as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) for eligible students (Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens), with indicative fees of AU$9,537 per year for a full-time student in 2026. This fee is a guide only, based on a typical full-time study load, and does not include materials such as textbooks or the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). Students may also be able to get a HELP loan to pay for their studies, repaid through the tax system once earnings exceed the compulsory repayment threshold.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
