Common Questions
Yes, according to Flinders University, students can study Australia's only dedicated Bachelor of Science (Palaeontology) at Flinders, making it a unique offering for those wanting to specialise in this field.
Students will spend time in the field and the lab, learning how to find, prepare and analyse real fossils. In the final year, students undertake a research project working alongside world-renowned experts in Australia's most active palaeontology research program. Practical experience and study abroad are also listed as available options.
In your second year, you can start a minor from the following options: Archaeology, Animal Behaviour, Biodiversity and Conservation, Environmental Restoration, or Geospatial Information Systems, which you then complete in your third year.
Domestic students can enter with a Guaranteed Entry ATAR of 75.00, a STAT score of 165.0, a GPA of 4.5, or a TAFE/VET Certificate IV or above. There are no prerequisites, though SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Biology is desirable but not assumed. A Diploma in Arts through the Science pathway is also available.
For 2026, the annual indicative fees are $9,537 for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) for domestic students, and $43,500 for a Full Fee Paying (FFP) place for international students.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
