Common Questions
The Bachelor of Science (Professional) includes a 12-month paid work placement as part of its Work Integrated Learning program. Students also complete three industry-linked projects. The placement allows students to work as a scientist for a whole year, earning income while gaining real industry experience and building professional networks, all of which count toward credit in the degree.
Students can choose from eight majors: Applied Mathematics, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, and Space Technology. Each major offers a distinct set of units and career pathways tailored to that field of science.
Yes, the course holds accreditations from the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) — specifically for students who complete a Major in Physics in conjunction with the Higher Mathematics Minor — and from the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) for students who complete a Major in Biochemistry in conjunction with the Chemistry Minor.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), the 2026 yearly fee is approximately $9,537 AUD, with a total course fee of approximately $35,763 AUD. For international students, the indicative total course fee is approximately $44,510 AUD. HECS-HELP loans are available to eligible domestic students.
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (Professional) requires students to complete units of study to the value of 375 credit points, with all units valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated. The course takes 4 years full-time or the equivalent part-time, and is delivered at the Hawthorn campus with intakes in both Semester 1 and Semester 2.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
