While studying the screen media course, you'll learn using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at VU's media production precinct at Footscray Park Campus, which includes a TV studio (with HD cameras, lighting equipment, interview set and drama set), a radio studio, a large green screen, post production labs (with Macs) with DaVinci Resolve software, and professional video and audio recording equipment and editing software.
Yes. To ensure you are work ready when you graduate, you'll complete 80–100 hours of work placement as an integrated part of this course, through the Media Placement unit (ASN2007).
To attain the Bachelor of Screen Media, students are required to complete 288 credit points in total, consisting of 240 credit points of Core studies (including 24 credit points of Capstone studies) and 48 credit points from Minor studies.
The Bachelor of Screen Media is available as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) for eligible students, with indicative fees for a full-time student in 2026 being approximately AU$17,399 per year. This fee is a guide only, based on a typical full-time study load, and does not include materials such as textbooks or the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
Students must complete 48 credit points of Minor Studies chosen from the following options: Writing (AMIWRI), Digital Media (AMIDIG), Visual Art (AMIVSU), and Animation and Visual Effects (AMIANI).
