About This Course

At Western, we prepare graduates to become the visual communicators of the future. Using our world-class facilities, you'll learn to write, produce, direct and edit your own original content whilst also serving as collaborators on your classmates' productions. You’ll work on campus in our TV studio, fully fitted with multi-cameras, green-screen and professional lighting. We’ll show you how to shape your content in the edit suites, and enhance your productions in the large Mac labs. You'll also have access to borrow equipment from the loan store to shoot content at any location. From Day 1, you will start building your portfolio with content created in class, so that by the time you graduate, you will have a rock-solid showcase of your work to impress potential employers. You will have the opportunity to choose complementary subjects in either Journalism or Design, depending on your area of interest. If you’d like a future career creating short or long-form documentaries – insightful exposés of ex-world leaders or ‘tiger kings’, or highlighting the impact of climate change: choose the Journalism stream. Or if you’re more interested in creating interactive online experiences, apps and game design – choose the Design stream. Both streams complement the skills and knowledge you develop in your screen media subjects, further enhancing career opportunities. The Bachelor of Screen Media degree is a future-focused, comprehensive program to set you on your career in screen content production – a fast-evolving industry, art form and a means of global communication.

What facilities will I have access to as a student in this program?

Students have access to a $2 million, purpose-built media studio at Parramatta South Campus, including a TV studio fully fitted with multi-cameras, green-screen and professional lighting, edit suites, large Mac labs, and a loan store to borrow equipment for shooting content at any location. As an Adobe Creative Campus, Western Sydney University also gives all students complimentary access to the Adobe Creative Cloud apps.

What are the indicative fees for this course?

The indicative annual fee for domestic students is from $11,885. This is for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), which is subsidised by the Commonwealth Government, meaning the Australian Government pays part of your fees towards your program. Fee estimates are indicative only and subject to change based on subjects chosen, duration and timing of study, and annual fee adjustments. These estimates do not include the Student Services and Amenities Fee.
