About This Course

Shape the future with a degree that merges business savvy with sustainability leadership. This unique double degree empowers you to tackle the world's most pressing challenges, combining specialisations in areas like marketing, accounting, data analytics and human resource management with insights into social and environmental issues. With a strong focus on employability, you will gain hands-on experience and professional skills through industry placements and community engagement projects, including the community engagement unit HUMA333 Social Impact in Action. To qualify for the award you complete 320 credit points. The first 160 credit points are specified units from the Bachelor of Social and Environmental Sustainability, covering environmental humanities, natural and human geography, sociology, sustainability, climate change, consumption and research methods. A further 130 credit points come from the Bachelor of Business, made up of 50 credit points of specified business units - financial literacy, managing people and organisations, marketing essentials, information technology in action and business law - and an 80 credit point business major chosen from accounting, business administration, data analytics, finance, human resource management, management or marketing. The remaining 30 credit points are Core Curriculum and community engagement units. Students who meet the requirements may exit with the Undergraduate Certificate in Liberal Studies, the Diploma in Liberal Arts, the Bachelor of Social and Environmental Sustainability or the Bachelor of Business. The course is offered at ACU's Melbourne and Strathfield campuses, with international intakes only on the Melbourne campus; students in Sydney are normally located at Strathfield, but business units are undertaken at the North Sydney campus.

General Requirements

Domestic students

An applicant must comply with ACU's Admission to Coursework Programs Policy. To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at Year 12, or equivalent:
- New South Wales: Assumed knowledge - English (Standard) (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) (Band 3)
- Victoria: Prerequisites - Units 3 and 4, a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English
ACU lists the indicative ATAR for this course as "New" for both Melbourne and Strathfield, meaning no prior-year selection rank has been published.
Applicants with higher education study: if you have completed at least two units of AQF-recognised study at bachelor level or above, ACU will assign you a new selection rank that reflects your study level, duration and grade point average, and prior study or relevant work experience may make you eligible for credit or recognition of prior learning.

ACU publishes no separate international academic requirement for this course beyond the Year 12 prerequisites above; international applicants need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

IELTS: 6.0 overall score, with an individual score of 6.0 in writing and speaking, and 5.5 in listening and reading
Pearson Test of English (PTE): 50, with a minimum of 50 in writing and speaking and a minimum of 42 in reading and listening
TOEFL (Academic, internet-based): total of 60, with minimum 21 in writing, 18 in speaking, 8 in reading and 7 in listening
