About This Course

The Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) is for high achieving students who have completed the three-year Bachelor of Social Science or related degree. The one-year honours program provides students with the opportunity to undertake research on a topic of interest and may be used as a gateway to higher research degrees, a research-focused career, or for professions requiring advanced analytical and investigative skills. This honours degree will allow you to further develop your knowledge and skills in your field of inquiry and make you more competitive in the workforce. It is a research training degree that provides training in in-depth enquiry, specialised development of research skills, project management and communicating findings. Requirements

To qualify for entry students must have qualified for the Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Wollongong, or a degree deemed by the Head of Students to be equivalent
Achieved a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 75 in 200 and 300 level subjects
Assumed Knowledge: Any 2 units of English
Recommended Studies: Any 2 units of Mathematics
If English is not your first language, you must meet the University's English Language Requirements; accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET for specific health-related courses
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants may apply through UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre's Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP), an alternative pathway for Indigenous Australians aged 17 and over
Students with prior overseas qualifications must provide academic records, and their course must be at least one-sixth complete; non-English documents must include an official English translation

Yes, Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available for eligible domestic students. Australian government funding will contribute towards tuition fees, and the remaining proportion — known as a student contribution — will depend on when you begin study (enrolment year) and study area.
