Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)

The Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) (BSW (Hons)) is an Australian Catholic University degree of 320 credit points with a minimum duration of four years full-time or equivalent part-time. The 2027 handbook lists two approved locations, Canberra and Strathfield, and explains that the honours program is incorporated into the final two years of the Bachelor of Social Work degree. To qualify for the honours degree a student completes 320 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of 50 credit points of Specified Foundation units (Part A), 20 credit points of University Core Curriculum units (Part B), 100 credit points of Social Work units including the 10 credit point SWTP335, which incorporates Community Engagement (Part C), 60 credit points of Practice Education units of which 30 credit points are at honours level (Part D), 40 credit points of Social Work Skills units (Part E), 10 credit points of Social Work Honours units (Part F) and 40 credit points of Allied Health Honours units (Part G). Named units in the schedule include Indigenous Health and Culture, Foundations of Psychology, Life Span Development, Introduction to Sociology and Global Society and Change, alongside Core Curriculum units such as Being Human, Ethics and the Good Life, Making Sense: Practical Reasoning for Life and Career, Revolutionary Values: Christianity in History and People Matter: Catholic Social Thought. Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide unless otherwise approved by the Course Adviser, and in all aspects of progress through the course students are advised by the Course Adviser.
