Yes. Upon graduation, you will meet the benchmarks set by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), the professional body for social workers, and be eligible for their membership.
The degree includes two social work field placements, giving you experience working in metropolitan and rural Australia or in one of UNSW's partnering countries overseas. There are also opportunities for social science internships and international projects.
You can specialise in one of the following social sciences majors: Economics, Environmental humanities, Geographical studies, Global development, Human resource management, Indigenous studies, International business, International studies, Innovation, strategy and entrepreneurship, Marketing, Media, culture & technology, Politics and international relations, or Sociology.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place, the indicative first year fee is $17,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $88,000. For international students, the indicative first year fee is $50,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $276,000. All fees are subject to annual review.
In your final year, you will produce a thesis or advanced professional portfolio based on your independent research. This is designed to equip you with advanced research and analysis skills so your professional development can adapt to future changes in social work practice.
