You’ll learn how to develop reliable software that powers the technology we use every day. From mobile apps and online banking to enterprise platforms and digital infrastructure.

As artificial intelligence, cloud computing and connected systems continue to grow, organisations need engineers who can build secure and scalable technology. You’ll develop strong skills in programming, software design and system architecture. Graduate ready to engineer the systems behind modern organisations. Through hands-on learning and industry experience, you’ll analyse real problems and design software solutions. You’ll gain experience across the full development process, from design to testing. Whether working in technology companies, government or emerging industries, you’ll graduate ready to deliver software that performs at scale. You will have the opportunity to develop your software engineering skills by working on real-world projects with industry clients. This will give you high-level project management skills, while also exposing you to the wide range of industries and applications in which your skills are in demand. Learn skills in: All University of Newcastle engineering students complete 12 weeks of industrial experience during their degree. This can be completed in one block or as shorter placements of no less than two weeks. Through your work placement you’ll build important professional networks and put your learning into practice. The Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
