Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)

The Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) (BSpPath(Hons)) is an Australian Catholic University degree of 320 credit points with a minimum duration of four years full-time or equivalent part-time. The 2027 handbook lists four approved locations: Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and North Sydney. To qualify for the honours degree a student completes 320 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of 40 credit points of Inter-professional units (Part A), 140 credit points of Speech Pathology Theory units (Part B), 50 credit points of Integration and Practice units (Part C), 80 credit points of Honours units (Part D) and 10 credit points of Core Curriculum units (Part E). Named units in the schedule include Psychology for Allied Health, Indigenous Health and Culture, Neuroscience for Allied Health, Research and Evidence - Informed Practice in Allied Health, Communication and Development Across the Lifespan, Anatomy and Physiology for Speech Pathology, Linguistics and Phonetics for Speech Pathology, Foundations of Speech Pathology Practice, Language Disorders (Developmental), Language Disorders (Acquired), Motor Speech Disorders (Acquired), and Speech disorders (developmental) and hearing. Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide unless otherwise approved by the Course Adviser, and in all aspects of progress through the course students are advised by the Course Adviser. The handbook also sets out an exit point: a student who has successfully completed 220 to 230 credit points from the Bachelor of Speech Pathology units excluding the Core Curriculum units, together with 10 to 20 credit points from the Core Curriculum units, may exit with the Bachelor of Allied Health.
