About This Course

This double degree addresses the market demand for expertise in the design of distributed computing and sensing environments, and the networks that underpin them. The course focuses on computer technology (hardware and software), communications and networking that incorporate Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), as well as network management and the Internet of Things. It covers fundamental programming and security, network programming and other aspects of distributed computing. You'll learn Python as a tool for programming and Linux skills – starting with the basics and progressing to advanced topics. You'll graduate with the advanced expertise in building computer system capabilities and the networks of the future.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Minimum ATAR/selection rank of 70 (or equivalent via an accepted entry pathway)
Prerequisite subject (Essential): Mathematical Applications ATAR
Prerequisite subject (Desirable): Mathematical Methods ATAR or Mathematical Specialist ATAR
English language requirement: IELTS Academic with an overall band score of 6, and minimum 6 in Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening
AQF Certificate IV (separate evidence of English language proficiency required), or AQF Diploma, or AQF Advanced Diploma (VET/TAFE pathway), plus subject prerequisite
Curtin course switcher: Attained an ATAR of 70, met subject prerequisite, and completed credit/SWA thresholds depending on maths background
Higher education course switcher: Met minimum admission criteria AND Mathematics Applications ATAR or comparable unit
STAT is not accepted as an entry pathway but may be used to demonstrate English language proficiency
