Faith and Purpose
Discover the foundations of faith and how it relates to one's worldview and purpose. Students will explore the Christian story from Scripture and express ideas of their own faith, examine how faith shapes views on the meaning and purpose of life, the value of humanity and ideas of human flourishing.
Old Testament Foundations
Familiarise students with Israel's Scriptures as a coherent narrative that is of crucial importance to Christians. Includes a discussion of every book in Israel's Scriptures and looks at how the character of God is communicated throughout.
New Testament Foundations
Introduces the content of the books of the New Testament while providing a basis for further reading and study. The primary focus will be on the message of each book within its historical-cultural setting.
Biblical Interpretation

This course meets the theological qualification requirements to be an ordained minister in churches that are part of the Australian Christian Churches movement, which represents over 1,100 churches throughout Australia and neighbouring countries. If your church is part of another denomination, you should check with your church or denomination office to confirm whether this course is also recognised for credentialled ministry.
The Bachelor of Theology takes 3 years full-time or up to 10 years part-time. The course structure is based on six semesters, each of 12 weeks duration plus an exam week, with four subjects taught in each semester. Students must complete 24 subjects totalling 240 credit points.
The Bachelor of Theology is available via Online Recorded, Online Live, Mixed Mode, and Face to Face study. Campus locations include Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and Hobart, though some subjects are only available on specific campuses — students should check the timetable to confirm location and mode availability.
The Bachelor of Theology has three intake periods per year: March (Semester 1), August (Semester 2), and November (Summer). This gives prospective students multiple opportunities to commence their studies throughout the year.
The course comprises 240 credit points in total: 120 credit points of core subjects (12 subjects), 70 credit points of restricted electives (7 subjects), and 50 credit points of free electives. Restricted electives are drawn from BIB 200-level, THE 200-level, BIB 300-level, CCM/EXP/MIN/WOR 200-level or above, and THE 300-level subjects. The course is taught over six semesters with four subjects per semester.
