Bachelor of Theology (Honours)

The Bachelor of Theology (Honours) is a one-year programme for high-achieving students who have completed the Bachelor of Theology pass degree or equivalent, and it aims to build on the existing knowledge and skills gained in past studies. You undertake a focused research project framed by one-on-one supervision with one of ACU's internationally-recognised academic staff, and engage in an in-depth study of an area of theology or biblical studies in which you are particularly interested. Aside from expanding your knowledge, a theology honours degree will give you an edge in an increasingly competitive job market. You will enhance your capacity across high-level research, as well as your writing and problem solving skills - highly transferable skills that employers have identified as the necessary skill-sets for sustaining a long, distinguished and personally rewarding career. To qualify for the honours degree you complete 80 credit points from the Schedule of Honours Units: 30 credit points of specified units, being THEL400 Thesis Writing and Research Methods, THEL401 Special Studies in Theology 1 and THEL402 Special Studies in Theology 2, and 50 credit points of thesis units, taken either full-time as Honours Thesis A and Honours Thesis B, or part-time across four thesis units spread over two years. The award is a Bachelor Honours degree at AQF Level 8 and takes one year full-time or the equivalent part-time. It is offered at ACU's Ballarat, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Strathfield campuses; the handbook also lists North Sydney, where students undertake units at both the Strathfield and North Sydney campuses.
