Yes, students complete a placement (internship) in the final year of the program. The placement is intended to provide a stepping-stone to ongoing employment in the tourism, event, hospitality and/or visitor economy sectors, with options to complete placements in both Australia and overseas.
Yes. The Bachelor of Tourism and Event Management has more than 200 entry and credit pathway agreements with education providers such as TAFE NSW and international universities. These pathways provide students with direct entry from eligible diploma, advanced diploma, and bachelor programs, along with credit transfer, allowing students to complete the degree in a shorter amount of time.
Yes. Students who complete the Bachelor of Tourism and Event Management have the opportunity to complete the Master of Sustainable Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management in just one additional year of study. This is accomplished by completing four Master subjects in the final year of the Bachelor program in a special postgraduate minor.
This program is co-designed with both local and global partners such as Destination NSW, the Australia Federation of Travel Agents, and the Accommodation Association. Western Sydney University is also a founding member of the Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) and the only Australian member of the Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research (ATLAS).
