Yes, the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) at JCU is accredited by the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC), making graduates eligible to work in Australia, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.
You will gain hands-on experience at JCU's on-campus Veterinary and Emergency Centre and Hospital, Fletcherview Station (a local working cattle station west of Townsville), the JCU Small Animal Clinic, teaching laboratories, and through professional placements in both rural and urban veterinary practices in your final two years.
The estimated annual Commonwealth Supported Fee for a full-time study load is $12,270+, which is variable and subject to fluctuation depending on choice of elective subjects. The Student Services and Amenities Fee is also required. Fee deferral via HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP and scholarships are available if eligible. Fees displayed are for 2026 and are subject to change in following years.
Yes, JCU offers a Rural Access Scheme (RAS) for students who live or have previously lived in a rural or remote area of Queensland. If eligible, you may be able to apply for a rural place in the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) at JCU.
The required subjects for entry are English (Units 3/4, C), Mathematical Methods (Units 3/4, C), and Chemistry (Units 3/4, C). Biology (Units 3/4, C) is recommended knowledge, and special entry requirements also apply.
