You may be eligible for adjustment factors up to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points, including subject adjustments (e.g. 2 points for a study score of 25 in Health And Human Development, Legal Studies, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology or Sociology, up to a maximum of 8 points).
In 2026, this course is available as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). The annual student contribution amount for a standard year of full-time study is between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399, depending on the band of each enrolled subject. The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is a maximum of AU$373 for 2026. Additional expenses include field trips, textbooks and equipment. Eligible students may defer fees via HECS-HELP and SSAF via SA-HELP loans. For international students, the 2026 annual fee is AU$38,400.
The course has two intake dates: February and July each year. The duration is 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time. Full-time study is considered 96 credit points per year; part-time is 24 credit points or fewer per semester (approximately two subjects).
Work placement is a core component of the degree. In second year, students undertake an industry-engaged project of 30 days duration. In third year, students undertake 30 days of supervised placement in agencies that work with young people. Placement can be undertaken in urban, rural or remote locations in Australia or overseas. Prior to placement, students must hold a valid Working With Children Check, a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (via fit2work), and may be required to hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check for placements with NDIS providers.
The degree provides four main streams of learning: (1) Professional Human Services – prepares you to work in client-facing industries as a carer, counsellor, advocate and champion of others; (2) Youth Work – puts you in the professional practice field to gain understanding of how the youth sector works; (3) Youth Studies – develops critical insights into research on and representations of young people that influence policy making decisions; and (4) Specialisation and Electives – allows further specialisation in areas including criminal justice, international development, Indigenous Studies, community services and languages.
Yes, RMIT offers several alternative pathways. VET applicants are ranked on their highest completed qualification (Advanced Diploma equivalent rank 81, Diploma 72, Certificate IV 54). Applicants may also satisfy academic requirements through the STAT multiple choice test. The SNAP access scheme provides priority access for eligible Year 12 students at partner schools. Equity access schemes are available for those affected by difficult circumstances, financial hardship or disability. The Indigenous Access Program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. Students who have previously studied at RMIT or another institution, or who have worked in Youth Work or a related field, may be eligible for credit or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
