You will develop a range of academic skills including essay, data reporting, summary, reflection and business letter writing; speaking competency in presentations and tutorials on a range of academic topics; ability to comprehend complex academic reading texts such as business case studies; and ability to comprehend complex listening texts (academic lectures) on a range of issues.
The course fee is AU$360 per week. Additional fees include a non-refundable Acceptance of Enrolment Fee of AU$250, Learning Materials at AU$15 per week, a Course Deposit (on application), and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) provided by Allianz with pricing subject to the student's specific circumstances.
Intake dates are: 2025 — 3 March, 23 June, and 13 October; 2026 — 23 February, 22 June, and 12 October; 2027 — 22 February and 21 June.
The minimum English language requirements include an IELTS score of 6.0 with no band below 6.0, Pearson PTE Academic score of 50 (no Communicative Skill below 46), TOEFL iBT score of 79 (minimum score of 19), TOEFL Paper score of 550 with minimum written score of 4.0, or Cambridge First Certificate of English Grade A (score 80) or Cambridge English: Advanced Grade C (score 53), equivalent to CEFR B2. Results more than two years old will not be accepted.
Students who complete the Bridging English Entry Program gain entry into James Cook University Masters programs, as the course is specifically designed to prepare students to study a master's degree at James Cook University Brisbane and further introduces students to Australian tertiary level learning culture.
