Certificate I in Workplace Skills

Certificate I in Workplace Skills is an entry-level qualification delivered by Spencer College, a registered training organisation (RTO 31809, CRICOS 03093K) based in Brisbane. The course is designed for individuals developing basic skills and knowledge to prepare for work, and graduates can expect to undertake a range of simple tasks under close supervision, with technical skills and knowledge kept deliberately limited at this entry level. Across six core units students build foundational workplace capabilities: applying communication skills, supporting personal wellbeing, using business resources, planning and preparing for work readiness, contributing to health and safety, and using everyday business software applications. The qualification is delivered over 28 weeks of classroom-based training at Spencer College's Brisbane campus, including a maximum of 16 weeks' holiday depending on intake, with face-to-face and online lectures/workshops supported by practical, simulated training activities; distance learning is not offered. Students must attend a minimum of 20 hours of class time per week as part of their Student Visa conditions. Entry is open to applicants aged 18 and over with basic computer skills and at least a Year 10 education or equivalent; Recognition of Prior Learning may also be considered on request.
