Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology

AUR20220 Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology is an entry-level vocational qualification delivered by UTA Institute of Technology (UTAIT) at its Reservoir, Victoria campus, both online and face-to-face with practical training. The course reflects the role of technicians who service and repair air conditioning components and systems on cars and heavy vehicles, and its completion enables graduates to apply for an AAC02 Refrigerant Handling Licence (qualified persons) through the Australian Refrigeration Council, subject to unit of competency selection. Students complete 13 units of competency (6 core and 7 elective), covering servicing, diagnosing, repairing and retrofitting air conditioning and HVAC systems, alongside basic electrical circuit and workplace safety skills. International students study over 20 weeks including a 1-week scheduled break, attending a minimum of 20 hours per week across 2.5 study days, with monthly intakes and flexible study-day options. Students must supply their own personal protective equipment (steel-cap shoes, safety glasses, overalls) and a computer for training sessions. Graduates are equipped for roles as automotive air conditioning technicians, servicing and repairing heating and cooling systems on light and heavy vehicles under an ARC licence.
