Common Questions
The course is free, funded entirely by the Northern Territory Government's Skilling Pathways Program. There are no materials to purchase and no enrollment or tuition fees — all materials are provided by ICAE.
You should graduate within six months. If you are already working in a related job, ICAE will fast-track your course so you receive your qualification faster.
To be eligible you must be a resident of the NT and either an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident, or a New Zealand citizen who has resided in Australia for a minimum of six months, or an Australian visa holder who does not have work or study restrictions and has a valid visa for the duration of the training. You must also be at least 15 years of age.
As a graduate you can expect to be employed in mainly routine tasks working under direct supervision. Possible jobs include Bar Attendant, Café Attendant, Catering Assistant, Food and Beverage Attendant, Front Office Assistant, Porter, and Room Attendant across settings such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
The course is delivered through a combination of on campus, online, and workplace training. ICAE will provide access to online and face-to-face training, visit your workplace to watch you demonstrate your skills, and/or arrange for you to visit the Rapid Creek campus for training and skills demonstration.
