Salon-based traineeship, school-based traineeship, VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), and fee-for-service (full-time). Off-the-job training delivered at Taylorweir, supplemented by workplace training in a commercial hairdressing salon or barbershop.
Full time (salon based) / Part time (school based) · Salon-based: full-time in salon or barbershop. School-based: 1 day a week in salon or barbershop. Full-time fee-for-service: 3 days per week (inclusive of 1 day a week in work placement).

Yes. Trainees must be employed by a salon or barbershop under a traineeship agreement before they can enrol in the Certificate II in Salon Assistant traineeship.
For the salon-based traineeship, the total non-concession course fee is $970.00 (tuition fee $828.75 + resource fee $141.25). Concession students pay a total of $388.60 (tuition fee $247.35 + resource fee $141.25). The school-based traineeship and VETDSS pathway have a total course fee of $0.00, though VETDSS students are required to purchase an equipment kit for $395.00. Fortnightly payment options are available on request.
Concession on course fees is available for students aged between 15 to 17 years old (born on or after 1st July 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) or those who hold a current Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card.
Upon completing the Certificate II in Salon Assistant, each trainee is ready to commence Certificate III in Hairdressing or Certificate III in Barbering.
Yes, this training program has been funded by the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD). Please note that student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment, and additional fees may apply such as student service and resource fees.
