The Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles has a duration of 0.5 years (approximately half a year).
Through a mix of theory and practical coursework, you will learn to identify a fabric or textile from its visual and physical properties, use and operate a sewing machine including industrial machines, apply fashion design principles to create your own designer garments, use sustainable practices when producing textiles, clothing and footwear, and create mood boards and fashion illustrations to visually present design, colour and textile ideas.
After completing this course, you can strengthen your expertise through a TAFE NSW fashion design study pathway including the Diploma of Apparel, Fashion and Textiles (Design and Product Development) and the Bachelor of Fashion Design. TAFE NSW also has partnerships with a number of Australian universities that offer guaranteed entry and credit transfer to eligible students.
The total number of units required is 18, comprising 6 core units and 12 elective units. The elective units must consist of at least 6 units from Group A, with 6 additional units from Groups A, B, any endorsed Training Package or accredited course, and all units must be relevant to the work outcome.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
