The tuition fee is AU$16,500 for both international and domestic students. Additional fees include a Resource fee of AU$1,500, a Material fee of AU$100, and a non-refundable Enrolment Fee of AU$250 payable at the time of enrolment. International students are also required to hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their student visa. Please note that tuition fees are reviewed annually and are not fixed for the duration of enrolment.
The course runs for 78 weeks, comprising 60 weeks of study and 18 weeks of holidays. Classes are scheduled for 2½ days per week, with full-time study requiring students to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours each week. Duration may vary if the student has been granted credit transfer through advanced standing.
International students must provide evidence of English language proficiency. Accepted tests and minimum scores are: IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5; Pearson Test of English (Academic) 42 with no score less than 36; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) 169; or General English Advanced or equivalent. Exemptions apply for citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, or Ireland, and for students who have completed or are currently completing AQF Certificate III or higher studies in Australia. The test must have been completed within two years prior to the enrolment application date.
Students who complete AUR31520 Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology may progress to AUR40226 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or other relevant qualifications. Career pathways include roles such as Diesel Engine Mechanic and Diesel Engine Technician.
Learning activities include face-to-face discussions, practical training, group activities, industry excursions, and presentations. Assessment methods include written assessments, verbal assessments, presentations, role plays, and practical demonstrations. The majority of assessment tasks must be completed using a computer and reliable internet access. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available upon request for students with prior skills, experience, knowledge, or qualifications in a related area.
