Common Questions
This qualification will be delivered over 76 weeks including 68 weeks of training and assessment and 8 weeks of holidays. Note that supplementary classes will be scheduled, and attendance required, should additional classes be required to allow for classes missed as a result of public holidays, or other interruptions, and/or for students who require further training and/or reassessment or additional support.
A total of 32 units are required for the award of this qualification, comprising 21 core units and 11 elective units. All 11 elective units may be chosen from the elective units listed in the AUR30320 qualification, and up to 6 units may be chosen from a Certificate II qualification or above in the AUR Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
You must have completed an English language test within two (2) years of the application date. Minimum scores required are: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 64, Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) 169, PTE Academic 50, or Occupational English Test grade B for each test component. Lower scores may be accepted if combined with ELICOS programs of 10 or 20 weeks duration.
Students will be provided with an apprentice toolkit, which must be brought to all practical classes, and a uniform, which must be worn for all workshop days. Students must purchase their own safety boots and bring them to every practical class. The required textbook is Automotive Mechanics, 10th or 11th Edition, by Ed May and Les Simpson, which students are required to purchase their own copy of from McGraw Hill to ensure constant access.
Units are assessed individually via a range of methods, including Written Assessment, Verbal Questioning, and Practical Demonstrations observed directly by the assessor. The RTO offers all students the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfers (CT). Students can appeal any assessment decision by following the Complaints and Appeals Policy outlined in the Student Handbook and on the website.
