To achieve qualification AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, students must complete 32 units of competency — 21 core units plus 11 elective units.
The total volume of learning is 1,224 hours, which includes 220 hours of face-to-face training in the classroom, 198 hours of practical training in the automotive workshop, 182 hours of theory assessment, 420 hours of practical assessment, and 204 hours of structured independent learning.
International students must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a PTE score of 52 or its equivalent. For equivalency of various English language proficiency testing and other forms of equivalency, please refer to the Enrolment Policy and Procedure available on the MTC website or MTC Student Handbook online.
Training is delivered in a blended mode at 73 Ashley Street, Braybrook, Victoria 3019. This includes classroom-based face-to-face theory learning and practical training at the on-site automotive workshop. Students attend a minimum of 20 hours per week of study.
Upon successful completion, graduates may work as an Automotive Electrician, Automotive Electrical Technician, or Automotive Electrical Diagnostic Technician. Graduates may also choose to progress with further studies by undertaking the AUR50116 Diploma of Automotive Management. Note that Melbourne Trades College does not guarantee any employment outcomes with its programs.
