The course includes 800 nominal hours and can be completed in different timeframes depending on your study load: 12 months attending three days per week, 9 months attending four days per week, or 7 months attending five days per week. From 2025, new full-time students attend three days per week (Monday, Thursday and Friday), unless otherwise arranged.
Yes, BIBA Academy's Certificate III in Barbering (SHB30516) is government accredited and Austudy approved. Skills First funding may be available to eligible applicants.
No. BIBA Academy does not require students enrolled in Skills First-funded programs to undertake a practical placement as part of their course. All training and assessment are delivered in a simulated or real workplace environment within BIBA Academy's facilities. Where a course may include optional industry experience or work-based learning activities, this will be clearly communicated to students prior to enrolment and is not a mandatory requirement for course completion.
You will develop strong foundations in both traditional and modern barbering, including sectioning patterns, classic and contemporary cutting, scissor-over-comb and clipper-over-comb techniques, clipper work and detailing, beard and moustache trimming, straight razor shaving, and finishing and styling. You will also build skills in client care and consultation, shampoo and basin services, scheduling and time management, employability skills, and developing and retaining a client base.
