Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying

The CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying is delivered by Daffodil College at its Sydney CBD campus over 52 weeks, combining classroom instruction with hands-on practical training at the college's dedicated workshop facility in Revesby. The qualification equips students with the skills and knowledge to work across three specialist areas — traditional and heritage bricklaying, refractory (heat-resistant) bricklaying, and paving — alongside general bricklaying and blocklaying techniques. All units of competency are delivered and assessed in a real or closely simulated workplace environment, giving students practical, hands-on experience preparing them for the workforce. Key areas of study include handling and preparing bricklaying and blocklaying materials, using trade tools and equipment, constructing masonry veneer and cavity brick walls, laying masonry walls, corners, piers and curved walls, installing flashings and damp-proof courses, and constructing masonry arches and structural systems. The course comprises 28 units of competency — 20 core units and 8 elective units — covering safety, measurement, planning and communication alongside trade-specific bricklaying, blocklaying and paving skills. Training is delivered in a blended format on a full-time basis, combining classroom and practical instruction with access to simulated work environments. Graduates are prepared for trade careers as bricklayers, blocklayers and pavers across residential, commercial and heritage construction projects.
