Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying

CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying is a nationally recognised trade qualification for learners seeking a career in the building and construction industry as a bricklayer, blocklayer or paver. It provides the practical skills, technical knowledge and industry understanding required to work across residential, commercial and industrial construction environments. Students learn to handle and prepare bricklaying and blocklaying materials, use trade tools and equipment, lay masonry walls and corners, construct masonry veneer and cavity brick structures, build arches and curved walls, lay paving, install damp-proof courses and flashings, carry out basic concreting, and erect restricted-height scaffolding. The course also develops skills in workplace health and safety, construction calculations, workplace communication, planning and organising work, and working safely at heights. Training combines classroom-based learning with hands-on practice in a purpose-built simulated workshop designed to reflect real construction-site conditions, and is suited to learners with little or no prior bricklaying experience. All units of competency are delivered and assessed in a real or closely simulated workplace environment, reflecting the strongly practical nature of the trade. The course runs over 52 weeks and is delivered face-to-face at Yarra College Australia's Melbourne campus and dedicated bricklaying workshop.
