About This Course

This course is designed for individuals seeking a career in wall and floor tiling within the residential and commercial construction industry. It develops the practical skills and underpinning knowledge required to prepare surfaces, measure and set out tiling areas, and install wall and floor tiles to industry standards. Training covers working with a variety of tiling materials including ceramic, glass, slate, marble and clay. The course focuses on the correct use of tiling tools and equipment, safe handling of materials, preparing surfaces, installing wall and floor tiles, applying waterproofing systems, and completing decorative and mosaic tiling finishes. The training approach is hands-on and practical, delivered through face-to-face classes and workshop sessions using industry-standard tools, materials and techniques. Strong emphasis is placed on workplace health and safety practices, correct tool use, and the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

Requirements

Age: Minimum age of 18 years or turning 18 years old prior to commencement of the course
Education: Year 11 Australian Senior High School Certificate, or equivalent (e.g. completion of Year 12 or High School in the students home country) with full academic results
English Language: Intermediate English (equivalent to 5.0 academic or general IELTS) and successful completion of college LLND Test Required
Identification: Photo ID and evidence of citizenship (international students must provide copy of passport)
Computer Skills & Equipment: Students must have beginner/intermediate computing skills including use of Microsoft Office programmes, in addition to hardware requirements of a desktop or portable computer with keyboard, pointing device, speaker, web camera and microphone, and a broadband internet connection
Physical Fitness: Students must be physically fit to participate in practical workshops and assessments, including lifting and carrying heavy objects, as required in the construction industry, while adhering to safe work practices
White Card: Completed CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry or its successor and possess a valid White Card prior to commencement of the course
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Prior to commencement of the practical workshops and assessments, students must have: High visibility vest (high visibility shirt/jumper is acceptable), Hard Hat, Gloves, Earplugs, Protective Glasses, Safety work boots (steel cap), Safety glasses (non-tinted), Long pants, Long-sleeved shirt (for WHS reasons please do not wear excessively loose clothing), Sun protection as required, Two tops and two shirts

What are the fees for the Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling?

The domestic fee for service tuition cost is $11,000 for the 52-week course. There is also an enrolment fee of $250 and a material fee of $1,000, bringing the total additional fees to $1,250 on top of tuition.

Do I need a White Card before starting the course?

Yes. You must have completed CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry or its successor and possess a valid White Card prior to commencement of the course.

What types of tiling materials and finishes will I learn to work with?

The course covers a variety of tiling materials including ceramic, glass, slate, marble and clay, and includes training in installing wall and floor tiles, applying waterproofing systems, and completing decorative, mosaic and curved tiling finishes.
