Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology

The Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology develops tradesperson-level skills in the manufacture and installation of furniture, cabinetry and other timber-based products. Students build core skills in tool use, measuring, computer-aided drawing, interpreting work documentation, preparing cutting lists, and safe and environmentally sustainable work practices.

Students can also gain specialised skills across wood machining, cabinet and furniture making, kitchen and bathroom construction and installation, and preparing production drawings and cutting lists. Work is carried out within established routines and procedures, with some discretion required in selecting equipment and materials, and graduates may take on limited responsibility for the work of others. Kitchen and bathroom installers must hold a licence in some states, and induction training is required for construction site work.

Delivered face to face over 64 weeks (including 8 weeks of holidays) at 20 hours per week, the course requires competency in 25 units across core and elective areas at Polytechnic Victoria's Collingwood and Brunswick campuses.
