Students receive hands-on practical training in simulated or real workshop environments, including access to cabinet making and timber technology workshops, industry-standard woodworking machinery and hand tools, timber materials, sheet goods, and hardware, finishing and surface preparation equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and experienced trainers and learner support services.
Yes. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for students with relevant industry experience and suitable evidence, and Credit Transfer is granted for equivalent units previously completed as part of other nationally recognised qualifications. Applications should be submitted prior to or at enrolment, and RPL assessments may incur additional fees.
Graduates may continue further study in MSF40122 – Certificate IV in Furniture Design and Technology, MSF50122 – Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology, or other construction, furniture design, or business-related qualifications. This qualification also supports pathways into licensed trade work, supervisory roles, and self-employment within the cabinet making and timber products industry.
Assessment is competency-based and may include practical demonstrations of cabinet making and timber technology tasks, written and oral knowledge assessments, production of cabinet or furniture items to specification, portfolio and photographic evidence, and direct observation and third-party reports. All assessments are mapped to industry standards and monitored by qualified assessors.
