The course duration is 52 weeks, delivered face to face through classroom sessions and workshop sessions.
Students must have English proficiency as guided by Macallan College's English Proficiency Policy and Procedures. This includes an IELTS Test with an overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual section score less than 5.5. Note that all applicants from AL3 countries must sit an IELTS test. Alternatively, a pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71 is accepted.
This course provides participants with the skills to obtain occupational positions across various industrial sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include Cabinet Maker-Kitchen and Bathrooms and Self-employed contractor.
You will learn how to create and design cabinets and furniture, work with wood and timber materials, use woodworking tools and machines safely, install and finish cabinetry for homes and businesses, and understand the latest timber technology and its uses.
Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age (or turning 18 prior to commencement), and require a completed Year 10 or equivalent. Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study, LLN level and personal competencies. There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification itself.
