About This Course

This CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry provides a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as a specialist field of work. The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context. Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 covers this requirement.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Minimum 18 years of age.
Academic Requirements: Successful completion of Year 10, (High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent) OR a Certificate II or equivalent OR be a mature age (20 years of age and above).
English Requirements: International students must exhibit a strong command of the English language. Undertaken one of the following English Language Tests and met the minimum score:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test must have scored 37-50
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) must have scored 40 or higher
- Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) ESOL test must have score 154 or higher
- OET score must be minimum D Grade
- Duolingo English Test must have a minimum score 80-90
- CEFR Levels / Oxford Test must be minimum in level B1
- CELPIP General must have a score of 5
- LANGUAGECERT Academic must have a minimum score of 50
- Michigan English Test must have a minimum score of 44
- Evidence that English is the medium of instruction at the student's school and has been for the last two (2) years, with a satisfactory grade in the language.
If the student does not have current proof of one of the above listed English Language Tests, they will be required to take an English Placement Test administered by Skills Australia Institute (SAI).

How long does the Certificate III in Carpentry take to complete?

The course duration is 104 weeks, structured as Four (4) Semesters of 26 weeks each, consisting of Eight (8) Terms of Study of 10 weeks each, plus a Three (3) week break at the end of each Term (totalling 24 weeks of breaks).

What vocational placement is required for this course?

The Work Experience or Vocational Placement component of the qualification is delivered in term 7 and 8 over a 20 weeks period for up to 24 hours per week to meet a 480 hours work experience requirement.

What are the English language requirements for international students?
