Common Questions
Della International College has a fully equipped Workshop in Sunshine, Victoria (Unit 4, 149 Anderson Road, Sunshine – 3020), where all practical training is undertaken. This simulated environment closely resembles a real workplace and provides access to a broad range of related experiences, tools and materials, allowing students to develop and demonstrate their carpentry skills.
Della International College delivers the qualification CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry in its entirety; however, all students wanting to carry out work on a construction site will need to complete the unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. This unit is in addition to the qualification and is completed externally. It is often referred to as a White Card and incurs an additional cost to the student of approximately $149 AUD.
Students must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test as part of the Determining Suitability Assessment. For direct entry without additional support, students must achieve a minimum of 85%–90% in DIC's DSA. For direct entry with additional support, students must achieve a minimum of 75%–85%. Where an individual does not meet the minimum required 75% in the DSA or a 6.0 (or equivalent in IELTS), they will be recommended to undertake an ELICOS course either within DIC or at a provider of their choosing.
Pathway into the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry may include CPC20120 – Certificate II in Building Construction. Pathways from the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry may include a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) or a suitable qualification at Certificate IV level. This qualification is also suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
All Carpenters are required to be licensed by 2022. A carpenter will need to be registered if they run their own business and subcontract to builders or clients, and will need to be licensed if they are an employee. Full details on the licensing requirements can be found at https://www.mbav.com.au/mandatory-trades-registration-and-licensing and applications for a licence can be found at https://www.vba.vic.gov.au/building/registration. State and territory jurisdictions may have different requirements.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
