The Certificate III in Carpentry is delivered full time over 104 weeks via face-to-face study at ICV's Melbourne CBD campus and Trade Center in Lalor, with monthly intake dates available.
To demonstrate English proficiency, international students must provide one of the following: an IELTS band score of overall 6 (Academic) or equivalent; an IELTS score of 5.5 when packaged with at least 10 weeks' ELICOS; an IELTS score of 5 when packaged with at least 20 weeks' ELICOS; a Pearson Test of English Academic score of 50; a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education completed in Australia; a Certificate IV or higher completed in Australia; or evidence of tertiary studies in the medium of English.
Graduates may pursue occupational titles including Carpenter – Commercial, Carpenter – Formwork, and Carpenter – Residential. The qualification is also acceptable to the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) for registration in some classifications for Domestic Builder Limited to carpentry (DB-L), and can support relevant registration in other states and territories.
Yes, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available. The competencies in this qualification may be attained through RPL, which takes into consideration the candidates' previous training, work and life experience. RPL opportunities will be identified during the pre-training interview process, and learners will be provided with an RPL Candidate guide to assist them in identifying prior learning or preparing a portfolio of evidence. Learners are encouraged to apply for RPL prior to or immediately after formal enrolment but prior to the facilitated delivery of units.
