Certificate III in Carpentry

The Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220) is a nationally recognised trade qualification offered by The Canberra Training School Pty. Ltd. (trading as CBTC – Canberra Business and Technology College) for carpenters working in residential and commercial construction. The course covers setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing structures made from timber and non-timber materials, and is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway. Students complete core and elective units covering wall, ceiling, floor and roof construction, formwork, stair building, cladding, door and window installation, and safe work practices at heights, alongside workplace communication and measurement skills. The course runs over 104 weeks in a blended delivery mode, combining scheduled face-to-face classes with online learning activities, and is assessed through written assessment, projects, case studies and role plays. Students are expected to commit a minimum of 35-45 hours per week to class participation, homework, self-study, assignments and assessments. A supervised work placement or apprenticeship/traineeship arrangement forms part of the course, giving students hands-on experience in framing, roofing, flooring and finishing carpentry while developing workplace safety awareness, communication and problem-solving skills. The course is delivered across CBTC's Canberra (Braddon and Gungahlin) and Sydney (Bella Vista) campuses.
