Certificate III in Carpentry

CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry is a trade qualification for carpenters working across residential and commercial workplaces, covering the setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing of products made from timber and non-timber materials. It leads to occupational titles including Carpenter – Commercial, Carpenter – Formwork and Carpenter – Residential, and is suitable as an Australian apprenticeship pathway. Delivered from Western Hill College's dedicated Carpentry Workshop campus in Epping, the course runs full-time over 56 weeks — 48 weeks of scheduled classes plus 8 weeks of breaks. Across 34 units of competency, students learn workplace health and safety, measurement and calculation, levelling and setting out, wall and roof framing, flooring and ceiling construction, formwork and concreting, stair and door/window installation, exterior cladding and lining, and working safely at heights, alongside costing and planning construction work. As part of the qualification, students complete CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry, which builds on the general construction induction training (achieved through CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) required by anyone carrying out construction work under the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work. Graduates leave job-ready for entry into residential, commercial and specialised construction fields, with both the technical carpentry skills and the safety knowledge the industry demands.
