About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of a qualified carpenter in residential and commercial construction. Learners develop broad, specialised, and technical skills to set out, manufacture, construct, assemble, install, and repair building components using timber and non-timber materials. Graduates are trusted to interpret drawings, coordinate tasks on site, and apply WHS, quality, and environmental standards to meet client and builder requirements. The program builds practical problem solving, including selecting materials and methods, sequencing work, and resolving on-site issues to deliver frames, formwork, cladding, stairs, doors, windows, and finishes to specification.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Undertake a pre-enrolment interview / initial skill assessment.
Must have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
Meet evidentiary requirements for country of origin.
Have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent or undertake an English Language test prior to enrolment.

The total estimated course cost is AU$22,000, which comprises a Tuition Fee of AU$20,000 and a Non-Tuition Fee of AU$2,000.

How long does the Certificate III in Carpentry take to complete?

The course duration is 52 weeks. Classes are scheduled 20 hours per week, comprising 15 hours of face-to-face classroom-based delivery and 5 hours of online-based delivery.

When can I start the Certificate III in Carpentry?

Intake dates are available in January, April, July, and October each year. Mid-term intake dates are also available in February, May, August, and November.

Can I get Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer for this course?

Yes. BEQUALIFIED recognises qualifications issued by other RTOs and will accept and mutually recognise qualifications and Statements of Attainment awarded by any other registered training organisation. Credit Transfer may be granted for units where equivalence can be established, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for skills and knowledge gained through work and life experience and other unrecognised training. Eligibility is discussed during the entry process and interview stage.
