Certificate III in Carpentry

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to work as a carpenter in residential and commercial construction. You will learn how to construct, install and repair building structures using timber and other materials, while following industry standards and workplace safety requirements. Key focus areas include construction basics, structural framing, plan interpretation, site safety and tool management. Across its 34 units of competency (27 core and 7 elective), students build practical, workplace-ready skills, covering areas such as use carpentry tools and equipment, handle carpentry materials, carry out general demolition of minor building structures, carry out setting out and install flooring systems. The course runs over 104 weeks, including 80 study weeks and 24 weeks of holidays, delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting and Training Workshop, with training split between a Parramatta classroom and a dedicated training workshop. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Qualified Carpenter, Construction Tradesperson and Carpentry Contractor.
