Common Questions
Students are released by their employers for blocks of training that run for four days (two sessions per day), with each day representing 7.5 hours of training. In the first year there are 7 blocks, in the second year there are 7 blocks, and in the third year there are 6 blocks. Training occurs approximately every six weeks, and all learning is conducted in person on campus.
Yes. To enrol in the Certificate III in Carpentry, you must be currently employed and have a Registered Agreement with your employer, as this is an apprenticeship qualification. If you are under 17 years of age and leaving secondary school, you will also need to provide a copy of your Exemption from School paperwork.
The tuition fees (GST exempt) vary depending on your circumstances: the concession fee is $1,146, the government subsidised fee is $5,728, and the full fee paying amount is $22,504. Additionally, there are mandatory other fees including materials of $1,005 (GST inclusive) and annual student services fees of either $135 (concession) or $270 (no concession).
The Certificate III in Carpentry is delivered at Berwick, Dandenong, Frankston, and Mornington Peninsula campuses, as well as in the workplace. Intake dates are in February, March, April, June, and July; however, please note there is no April intake for the Berwick campus.
Once you've successfully completed the Certificate III in Carpentry, you can extend your skills by studying Chisholm's Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building). This can start your pathway to becoming a registered builder.
