Common Questions
The Certificate III in Carpentry is delivered at four campuses: Melbourne Campus (L10/601 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000), Hobart Campus (212A Liverpool Street, Hobart TAS 7000), Abbotsford Campus (395-397 Victoria St, Abbotsford, Victoria 3067), and Broadmeadows Campus (61 Riggall St, Broadmeadows, Victoria 3047).
The course runs for 52 weeks in total, comprising 48 study weeks and 4 weeks of holidays. Students are expected to undertake 20 hours a week in the classroom plus 4 hours of structured self-study.
Assessments for this course may include written questions, projects, presentations, reports, role plays/observations, portfolios/journal, and on-site assessments. At the commencement of each unit, your trainer and assessor will outline the specific assessment tasks that you are required to complete.
You are required to have an IELTS score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). Alternatively, English language competence can be demonstrated through documented evidence of being educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country, completing at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO, or successful completion of an English Placement Test. Other tests such as PTE and TOEFL can also be accepted if equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
Potential employment options are in the carpentry sector in roles such as carpenter, builder or foreman in residential or commercial construction. Further education pathways may include the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).
