Domestic applicants need to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Assessment (LLND). International applicants need Year 10 completion or equivalent plus academic IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.0 in each band), or an equivalent approved English test.
Domestic students pay Full Fee $13,216 per semester (fees vary by units enrolled). International students pay AUD$17,500 in total across 2 semesters.
The course runs for 12 months in a blended format, available full-time or part-time at Regency Park, and part-time at regional campuses including Barossa Valley, Berri, Elizabeth and Noarlunga.
With appropriate industry experience, graduates can apply for cookery trade recognition, opening pathways to roles as a commercial cook in a restaurant, hotel or hospital, a sous chef in a small hospitality establishment, or a cook in residential or retirement aged care.
The qualification comprises 20 core units and 5 elective units, covering kitchen operations and safety, menu planning and costing, and cooking meat, poultry, seafood, cakes, pastries, breads, stocks, sauces and vegetarian dishes, with electives in Asian cuisine and specialised food items.
