This qualification is delivered over a period of 1 year, consisting of 52 weeks in total: 12 weeks of breaks/holidays, 30 weeks of tuition (contact hours), and 10 weeks of compulsory work placement. Students are required to attend 20 contact (face-to-face) scheduled hours each week of study.
The fees are: Tuition fee $12,500, Material fee $1,000, and Application fee $250. The Course Material Fees covers the student kitchen kit, uniforms, equipment, and resources used in the delivery of this course. All fees are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and are GST exempt. Fees may vary where RPL and/or Credit Transfer has been approved.
Students enrolling in this course must meet the following requirements: an English proficiency of IELTS General English Level 6.0 or another equivalent recognised English Language test; an academic level of Year 12 or equivalent high school certificate; and a minimum age of 18 years or over at the time of commencement.
Yes, this course includes 10 weeks of compulsory work-based placement (WBT). The unit SITHCCC043 Work effectively as a cook is specifically prescribed for work placement purposes. Work placement simulates the fast-paced environment of professional food service operations and forms an essential part of the nationally recognised qualification.
Students enrolling with AIHM in a SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery package of courses would include the following: SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, and/or SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, and/or SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management. This package of courses develops a strong academic profile supported by practical experience in the world of 'Culinary Arts'.
