You will build practical experience in identifying oral hygiene products and aids for patients' treatment plans, preparing for dental radiography including processing an image as directed by the practitioner, maintaining high standards of infection prevention such as procedures for respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette, preparing instrument trays in accordance with workplace protocols, and administration skills such as processing payments and making bookings along with other front office management skills.
After completing the Certificate III in Dental Assisting, you can strengthen your expertise with a TAFE NSW Dental study pathway including the Certificate IV in Dental Assisting. You can also pursue TAFE NSW degree pathways, TAFE NSW–university partnership pathways that offer guaranteed entry and credit transfer to eligible students, or other university pathways using your TAFE NSW qualifications.
You are required to complete 8 core units and 2 elective units from the electives listed. All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. TAFE NSW also offers 5 packaged specialty additional units as part of the course structure.
