Common Questions
For Certificate III the minimum amount of work placement hours required to complete is 175.5 hours. Students are required to participate in a minimum of 170 hours of practical placement within an accredited early childhood education and care service.
Students are responsible for finding their own work placements. However, BBI has agreements with different childcare centres in case students need any assistance finding placements. Students may also use their current employer for work placement if they meet the mandatory criteria, as assessed and approved by a BBI assessor.
Students are eligible to participate in work placement upon completion of at least two weeks of theoretical study at the institute. Students are only deemed eligible by the Trainer to participate if they possess the required attributes and skills. A Working with Children Check is also required before commencing work placement.
After achieving this qualification, candidates may undertake CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or a range of Diploma level qualifications within the CHC Community Services Training Package, or other Training Packages.
Should a student not demonstrate competency within a single work placement, students may be required to undergo additional work placement hours and an additional assessor visit. An additional assessor visit will incur a fee of $200.
