Course Overview

About This Course

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30125) at TasTAFE is a nationally recognised qualification for people passionate about shaping young lives, giving students the skills and confidence to step into an entry-level educator role in a sector where skilled educators are in demand. Students learn how to provide quality education and care for children from birth to five years of age, guided by expert teachers who bring real-world experience into the classroom. The course is designed around the National Quality Framework and teaches students to implement approved learning frameworks; plan and deliver engaging play-based programs that support children's wellbeing, learning and development; maintain children's health and safety, including completing a First Aid qualification; identify and respond to children and young people at risk; build cultural competence and foster understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and work ethically and legally in line with sector standards.

Domestically the course runs full-time through mixed learning at the Alanvale, Devonport and Clarence campuses, with tuition of $2,730 subsidised, $410 concession or $14,570 commercial, plus a $45 polo top for work placements and a $20.40 Working with Vulnerable People registration. International students study for 52 weeks in Hobart or Launceston at 20 hours per week with a February intake, at AUD $12,205, including a formal work placement of at least 160 hours arranged by TasTAFE teachers with childcare organisations. The course can also be packaged with the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Hear From the Students

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful โ€” never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
