You will need to complete 160 hours in vocational placements in regulated early education and care services throughout the duration of the qualification. If you are not working in a regulated early education and care service, you will be placed by TAFE SA's Placement team.
You will require a current Working with Children check and a Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) certificate. If you do not have these checks and certificate, you will not be able to commence your vocational placement. Individual Early Education and Care services may also have their own policies on vaccination requirements, and you may need to show evidence of vaccination.
The total fees for the 12-month course vary depending on eligibility: Fee Free TAFE places are $0, subsidised places cost $4,338 in total ($2,169 per semester), concession places cost $2,691 in total ($1,346 per semester), and full fee places cost $5,820 in total ($2,910 per semester). Fee Free places are limited and eligibility criteria applies. If all Fee Free TAFE places are filled, you may be offered a subsidised place instead.
Full time study takes 1 year and requires attendance of 2 x 2 hour online classes per week, one day on campus for practical workshops, 1 day of vocational placement a week and 1 assessment support/tutorial per week. Part time study takes 2 years and requires attendance of 2 days per week, comprised of one day on-campus and one day vocational placement a week.
The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is offered at multiple TAFE SA campuses including Berri, Elizabeth, Gilles Plains, Murray Bridge, Noarlunga, and Regency Park. All locations deliver the course in blended mode, combining on-campus and online learning, on a full-time basis.
