About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children's education and care services in Australia. They support children's wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures.

Requirements

Minimum 18 years of age
Successful completion of year 11 or equivalent
Successful completion of the college's LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy) test and digital literacy assessment
Access to a computer (with Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word and a web browser)
Access to the Internet
Access to a video and audio recording device
Computer skills include an understanding of how to access an online video conferencing software, how to use Microsoft Word and Adobe Reader, and be able to download, scan and upload documents, and how to access online materials
Applicants with no formal qualifications and who are commencing within or have experience within a relevant industry may also be considered for entry into the Course
Before commencing work placement, learners are required to provide: A Federal Police Check (name check), no more than 6 months; A Working with Children Check; Evidence of up-to-date vaccination as required
Have a reasonable level of fitness to cope with standing, lifting, bending, twisting and reaching

What are the total fees for the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care?

The total fees include a tuition fee of A$12,000, an enrolment fee of A$200, and a material fee of A$1,750.

Is work placement required for this course, and how is it organised?

Yes, 160 hours of compulsory work placement is required, and the college will organise this placement for students.

What checks or documents do I need to provide before starting work placement?

Before commencing work placement, learners are required to provide a Federal Police Check (name check) no more than 6 months old, a Working with Children Check, and evidence of up-to-date vaccination as required. Can I receive credit for previous study or experience?

Yes, AIDT recognises AQF and VET qualifications, as well as Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs, and students may apply for course credit which may reduce the course duration. Additionally, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) acknowledges a student's previous formal or informal learning, work, and life experience relevant to the course outcomes, and students who believe they already hold certain competencies may apply for RPL by submitting an application with supporting evidence.
