The course duration is 52 weeks.
Students must complete a minimum of 160 hours of vocational placement in a regulated early childhood education and care setting as a requirement for the issuance of the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Students must have English proficiency as guided by Macallan College's English Proficiency Policy and Procedures. The required score is an IELTS overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual section score less than 5.5. A pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71 is also required. All applicants from AL3 countries must sit an IELTS test.
After completing CHC30121, students can progress to the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, which prepares them for lead educator and coordinator roles. Students may also pursue a Bachelor of Early Childhood or Education, with some universities granting credit for diploma units to reduce time to degree, or other related VET or community services courses such as work in community services, special education, and inclusion support.
Yes, students are required to obtain a Working with Children Card prior to commencing practical placement. This is issued post clearance of a Working with Children Check (WWCC). Students should refer to the relevant state authority for further information on the application process.
